How the figures are sourced and kept up to date
Every fee, rate, threshold and timeline on this site comes from one data file, with its source and the date it was last checked.
Where figures come from
Fees, tax rates, thresholds and typical timelines are kept in a single dataset of 52 figures. None is typed into a page by hand. Each figure records:
- its value and unit
- the page it comes from
- the date someone last checked it against that page
- notes on how to read it
Sources are official wherever possible: the e-Residency programme, the Police and Border Guard Board, the Estonian Tax and Customs Board, the Centre of Registers and Information Systems (e-Business Register) and the Riigi Teataja legal database. For the international concepts, sources are the OECD and EU law. Provider prices, including Xolo's, and providers' account-opening times come only from each provider's own public pages.
Wherever a figure appears, it links to its source. Each page shows "Figures last checked" with the oldest date among the figures it uses. The sources page lists everything, and the full dataset can be downloaded as JSON.
How figures stay current
- A figure is checked against its source page, and its value, source and date are updated together.
- The site will not build for publication if any figure is missing a value, a source or a checked date.
- Any figure last checked more than 90 days ago is flagged at every build, and re-checked.
- When a rate or fee changes, the previous value and the date of the change are kept, so the change can be shown.
How guides are reviewed
Every guide and glossary entry starts as a draft. It is published only after a review that checks each claim about law, tax or fees against an official source (or, for a provider's prices, the provider's own pages), and checks that its figures come from the dataset. Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. The site contains no invented statistics, testimonials or quotes.
What the tools do and don't do
- They apply published rates and fees to your answers, in your browser. Nothing you enter is collected.
- They show Estonian-side figures only. Tax in your country of residence is never calculated.
- The fit check raises questions to check (tax residency, permanent establishment, place of effective management, controlled foreign company rules). It never concludes where you or your company are taxed.
- Typical durations are typical, not promised.
Corrections
If you spot a figure that has changed or a claim that is wrong, write to admin@techale.io with the page and, if possible, the official source. Corrections are made in the dataset, so they reach every page at once.
